Don’t worry there are some very interesting and helpful apps informing you about Vienna and its sights, local tips and public transport.
Wien ‘At a Glance’ - City Guide
A Vienna Guide for your pocket, which comprises the most important points of interest in Vienna, selected by experts, in the categories: history and culture, what to see, eating out, shopping, accommodation and night life. Each point includes short description, address, phone number etc. You can check what is nearby and the app offers also a Utilities & Services section, where you can check police stations, hospitals and so on.
Qype Radar – everything interesting around your GPS position
With the Qype-App you can find interesting places in your surrounding, not matter what you are looking for: restaurants, bars, stores, doctors or hotels). The personal valuations and rankings by other users are a nice feature.
Öffi – Public Transport Buddy
A must have for all people going by public transport is ‘Öffi’, your ‘Public Transport Buddy’. You can check departure times, where the next station is located and search for whole routes including a timetable. Furthermore you’ll get information about prices and arrival times.
Sofortparken – free parking spaces in Vienna
This app will relieve the life of car drivers in Austria’s capital as it shows you all free parking spaces in the city. With ‘Sofortparken’ you’ll find your parking lot in Vienna.
To find a parking space on your smartphone, somebody else needs to unlock it when leaving one. This is done easily with one touch of a button. The more people are using this app, the better will be its coverage.
It sounds exciting, but we have to wait a little bit until ‘Sofortparken’ is available as it will be released during the middle of November.
Shpock - flea market in your pocket
‘Shop in your pocket – Shpock’ is developed by the Viennese Start-up Finderly. The App is a mobile flea market and is useable with iOs as well as Android. Shpock enables its Users to buy and sell goods in a personal surrounding. Offered things are displayed and sorted by distance from your location. Offers include a photo, description and price and the App is free for both buyers and sellers.
Freewave – WLAN Hotspots in Vienna
Freewave is Austria’s biggest WLAN Provider with more than 380 Hotspots which helps you in finding WLAN close to you on the basis of Google Maps. Additionally you can search for cities and postcodes.
